The University of Education is one of two specialized colleges that are located in the city of Baltimore. The institution was established in 1864, but became part of the University System of Maryland when it was created in 1988. The university has campuses in both downtown Baltimore and northeast Baltimore. UEM educates close to 40,000 students each year, including undergraduate and graduate students. Close to 2,000 faculty members are employed at the institution as well.
